    Why join the workshop?

Quick and easy access to content editing and online publication tools has given rise to the modern “backpack journalist,” whose primary newsdesk and publication suite can fit right in their pocket, or be accessed through just a few clicks. In today’s online media environment governed by trends and social media, almost anyone can become a content creator, but it takes a little more finesse to become a truly compelling storyteller.

This highly-interactive workshop is designed to introduce the new digital media environment as a framework within which various forms of content can be applied to different online channels, for creators to maximise impact and stand out among the increasingly crowded virtual space. Best practices and insider tips will be discussed and reviewed in order for participants to gain familiarity with the effective tools and techniques to help them deliver artistically- and technically-sound content geared toward informing, enticing, engaging, and inspiring, their chosen target audiences.

This workshop is the second of four related courses on how you can use digital media to great advantage. INQUIRER.net journalists led by editor in chief John Nery draw lessons — of all kinds — from the experience of the country’s leading news website. Understand the three kinds of audience; learn to write fast; create your own pocket newsroom; work with the crowd to create content; share techniques for handling trolls; produce compelling video that works on all screens; and much more - only at the Inquirer Academy.

    Who Should Attend:

The course is appropriate for anyone with an interest in creating engaging content for online audiences, be it as a hobbyist or professional in the industry. Individuals in marketing, communications, journalistic, or content management functions of a business would also benefit from learning how to seamlessly weave their stories into modern digital media.

The workshop and exercises will guide budding hobbyists and seasoned professionals, alike, through the following topics:
