This program will equip the participants in appreciating accounting as the language of business. It is customized for novice corporate employees who lack an accounting background but whose work requires an understanding of how business transactions are captured in accounting records and transformed into financial statements. The program covers the whole accounting cycle from transaction analysis to financial statement preparation.

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

• Explain the nature and importance of accounting as the language of business
• Describe the current financial accounting frameworks and the regulatory environment of financial reporting
• Differentiate the types of transactions of a business organization and illustrate how they are recorded in the books of accounts
• Identify the different documents, forms, records, and reports that are used in accounting to be able to capture the business transactions and convert them into meaningful reports
• Explain the steps or processes in the accounting cycle and illustrate how they are accomplished
• Illustrate the structure and contents of the basic financial statements
• Analyze financial performance of a business using the information contained in the financial statements primarily for business decision-making.

Methodology

• The program will be live/synchronous. The resource person will be speaking in real-time (not recorded) to the participants discussing topics, facilitating activities for engagement, and answering questions for clarity. Each session will have a break every 45 minutes to 1 hour. 
• The program will also have an output as proof of learning.
